Have you ever wondered what’s going on in your local FFA chapter? I recently sat in on the year’s first officer meeting and learned some great things.

The FFA recently participated in Pink Week selling pink ribbons and bracelets; they donated 100 percent of the profits to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Have you ever wondered what goes on in an FFA general meeting? Well, there are two meetings a month, one being serious and the other being a fun get together. Both have food, usually hot dogs and popcorn. One has fun and games and is bent towards team building.  You can also win great prizes.

Being in the FFA isn’t just about meeting. It also has great benefits.  There are tons of leadership opportunities that can help build your skills as a person. Some of you may have heard about the rabbits that are kept at school.  These are rabbits that students own and show at fairs and other competitions. If you’re interested in showing rabbits or just want to learn a little about them, FFA hosts a rabbit clinic you can attend. Here they will show you how to handle a rabbit for showing or just general care.  This event is open to the public, so you can even bring your parents.

One of the huge benefits of joining the FFA is the Green Hand Event.   This is a party where you will be introduced to the FFA. It’s usually right around Halloween, so it’s almost like a Halloween party. If you still have any questions, you can go to the next officer meeting.  They are open to the student body.  Meetings are every Thursday after school.
