Yesterday at 11:28 a.m, school security recieved a tip about a 14-year-old student with a gun. In a few minutes about half a dozen Kennewick police officers showed up, entered the 500 building and went into the classroom with guns drawn. The student tried to toss the air soft gun aside, but was quickly taken into custody.
Kamiakin was locked down for about 12 minutes during the incident and the student was taken to the Kennewick police station. Soon afterwards, officers and a counselor went back into the classroom to check on the scared students, and a few of them were even taken to see our school psychologist.
