“The atmosphere was amazing, having everyone there rooting for us. And stepping on the field [kind of] put a fire in me, telling myself we earned this and we do deserve this. Stepping off the field was bittersweet knowing I’m leaving as a champion, but also knowing that I will never step on a football field again. Being a defensive end is about protecting the outside and you [have to] be physical, never let anyone outside of you. What I enjoyed about defensive end is no matter how big or how small you are, if you got the strength and the speed you can match up with a lot of guys, and that’s what I loved about the position. The most exciting part of the game was me and my ten brothers being on the field for the final drive and stopping them in OT. I knew that me and my brothers weren’t going to walk out that stadium as anything but winners. Thanks for a wonderful year. And thanks for making my final year of football the best year. I would like to thank my parents for always telling me to keep moving forward and that it will all fall in place. Thanks for the endless support throughout the season and for making my final game have the biggest and loudest [cheering] section.”
